My name is Lucy Spence, and this my little corner of the Internet.

Most of the time I talk about web teams and web design. Most of the time I’ve learnt my lessons by making mistakes. Most of the time, I’ve actually done what I talk about.

Some of the time I’ve got it right. Some of the time I’m documenting thought processes for future. Some of the time I’m trying to clarify what I think.

Occasionally, I’ll say sorry if I’ve got it wrong.

Under the navbar is a playground. Ideally it will help people avoid some of the mistakes I’ve made. Hopefully it will mean that some web teams are more successful than they might otherwise have been.

However it is also somewhere for me to test new things. There are random experiments from time to time - but all the results are shared.

I’ve been working with websites professionally since 2000. That doesn’t make me an expert, but it does mean that I understand the users come first, so even though it’s my playground, it’s all with you in mind.

If you’re curious to see what I have to say, why don’t you subscribe to the RSS feed?

Site Design

Regarding the design of this site, I’m not particularly happy with the outcome, but a big hat tip to Garret Dimon for reminding me of the point (and of Edward Tufte).

Out and about on the web

My aliases on the web are usually fumbles or fumblywumbly. I’ve forgotten the reason why now, but there you go.
